- Carl led a discussion on the 5-Year Vision. Building on the organization’s rich history and enduring commitment to public education, the vision provides a strategic framework to strengthen the League’s voice, deepen member engagement, and advance democratic public education amid significant change and opportunity. The Board unanimously approved this document, and it was published in several editions of The Post.
- Carl led a discussion on HML’s Counter Narrative (Draft) / The privatization narrative. Key points include:
- Public funds for public schools for the public good.
- Public schools strive to ensure that all children have equitable opportunities to reach their full potential and find success.
- Public schools are a cornerstone of our communities and our democracy.
- Carl is considering sharing this document at the Arizona Superintendents Association conference in September.
- Jeannie and Jimmy led a conversation focusing on HML’s website redesign. The company hired to build the redesign (thank you, Toba!!) is Firespring. Estimated completion is early fall.
- Jimmy shared a new edition to The Post: Spotlight Conversations
- Jeannie informed the Board of the passing of former president Bill Mathis.
- It was agreed that membership recruitment will be discussed during the September meeting.
