Past-President Dr. Ruben Alejandro is currently working as an Educational Consultant. After 39 years in public education, Dr. Alejandro retired as superintendent of the Weslaco Independent School District. Dr. Alejandro was born and raised in Weslaco, Texas and is a high school graduate from Weslaco High School. He returned to Weslaco, Texas as a science teacher in 1979 and climbed the ranks to the position of superintendent from where he retired in 2016. Through his consulting services, he assists educators to prepare students for jobs that do not currently exist but will shape the future of our world. Dr. Alejandro was the first member of the Texas Association of Latin Administrators and Superintendents (TALAS) to sign up to be a mentor for the aspiring superintendents’ mentorship program. He is also a member of the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) where he was a director for 3 years, Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA), Association of Latin Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) and Horace Mann League (HML) where he is currently a director.
