Jeanne Collins Deweese
Jeanne Collins Deweese is a recently retired superintendent who served Vermont for 17 years in this capacity. Over her 40-year career, she has also served as a special educator and special education director in residential treatment centers in California and Arizona as well as in public schools in California, Colorado, and Vermont. With a Master’s degree in Special Education: Emotional Disturbance from the University of Northern Colorado and a Certificate of Advance Graduate Studies in Educational Leadership from St. Michael’s College in Vermont, her career focus has been on students with behavioral difficulties including autism and low incidence behaviors. During her career, Jeanné has served in several leadership positions in Vermont (VSA, VCSEA), New England (NEASS) and nationally (CASE, AASA) and has received recognition at all levels, including Superintendent of the Year for Vermont. Currently, Jeanné is mentoring and coaching public education administrators across the country and supporting the Horace Mann League as Assistant Executive Director.
