Dr. Theresa Rouse is in her ninth year as Superintendent of Schools for Joliet Public Schools District 86 in Joliet, Illinois which currently serves approximately 9,600 students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through Eighth Grade that attend the twenty-one schools. She also oversees approximately 1,600 employees in 23 buildings and a $252 million budget. Dr. Rouse has over 33 years of educational experience including a total of 15 years as a Superintendent.
Locally, Dr. Rouse serves as a director on the Joliet Grade Schools Foundation for Educational Excellence, a Vice-Chair of the Community Foundation of Will County Board, Chair of the Spanish Community Center Board, a member of Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, a member of Joliet Rotary Club, a lifetime member of the Joliet Chapter of the NAACP, a lifetime member of the Joliet Chapter of the National Hook-Up of Black Women, and a member of the Zonta Club of Joliet.
Dr. Rouse is also a member of several state and national education organizations. These include the following: Association of California School Administrators (ACSA); Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA); Superintendents Roundtable of Northern Illinois; Suburban Superintendents Association; AASA; The Mid-American Association of School Superintendents; and the National Superintendents Roundtable.
